Saks Fifth Ave, Macy's, Wicked, and the Rockettes

Last week Spencer and I went to New York. For the first part of the week I was out there on business and he was in Utah doing finals. Then he came and met me mid way through the week. We had such a good time it was just what we needed New York at Christmas. It was a bit cold and one day it just poured rain, but it was so fun to be there and shop and hang out with my sister, Minde, and her family. We did some shopping, saw The Christmas Spectacular at the Radio City Music hall, saw the Rockefeller Center tree, ate some Soul food (fried chicken and waffles for bfast) and even won tickets for the play Wicked, which made the trip. New York is beautiful at Christmas I love all the lights and decorations and truly the hustle and bustle of the holidays and of New York every day living.

I should mention that today is the anniversary of when Spencer and I got engaged it has been one whole year since that moment happen. The journey thus far has been just that a journey and I can't wait to experience life's greatest disappointments, and joys with my best friend. Love ya babe

TIMBER! OH Chirstmas Tree

So my friend Sarah had a great idea...this year we would go with our husbands to cut down our own Christmas trees together. Spencer had to wake up early the day after Thanksgiving and go purchase our permit to cut down a tree. Well what I didn't realize is that we were going to have to drive three hours away to cut down a tree that we would have up in our house for only three weeks, but anywho. We took the long journey a couple of weeks ago up by the Idaho-Utah border to find the perfect Christmas tree. We had such a great time! Once we found the place where we could cut a tree down (we got a little lost) we hiked up and down the mountains and found two perfect Christmas trees. This is our tree that we found. It was one of the first ones we saw, but we had to make sure it was the one. We finally came back to it an hour later since we couldn't find one better.

When we first talked about doing this during the first part of November we thought there would be snow up there by the beginning of December. We were actually kind of excited to snowshoe in and pack it out. There was no snow (thank goodness) and it was quite warm, hence why we aren't wearing coats.

Jason just had to bring an ax up just for a picture..he does look very mountain men like

Here is Sarah and Jason carrying their tree out.

Thanks Sarah for the fun idea we loved hanging out with you guys!

{cure for the blues}

So these last couple of weeks I have confirmed what I have known for years. There are two things in this life that can cure all life's disappointments, stresses, tiredness, bad days, long days, and even just plain fed up with life days....you name it and these two things can cure it or at least make it better. These two things might seem trivial and lame, but I am sure that some ladies out there will agree with me on them!

First: A nice cold Diet Coke...let's get this straight
it can't be just some Diet Coke it has to be either in
a cold can or from the fountain with just enough
ice, the bottle just doesn't fly.

Second: A new pair of shoes.
I just got these cute little numbers.
There aren't too many stipulations
for shoes as long as you feel good
in them!

Set For the SnOw!

Last week Spencer told me that he was going to sell his alpine skis and by some new ones. I was a little confused since he doesn't alpine ski very much, he really only telemarks and his telemark skis are pretty dang nice. Me on the other hand my skis are about 4 years old, they work fine so I wasn't about to ask for new ones, but he was going to sell his and by himself a new pair....I will admit I was a little bugged.

The day that he sold his skis he calls me up and tells me that he thinks we should buy me some new skis this year, I was so excited. What a thoughtful husband I have (most of the time ;) ). Well check my babies out they are hot! K2 Missbehaved here is what the description says on rei.com "Fully designed for aggressive female riders, the K2 MissBehaved ski is a soft-snow pro for backcountry adventures and epic powder days at the resort." I am so excited and ready for the snow to fall. If you can't find me at work, you can find me on any black diamond and don't be surprised if I am riding switch ;) Once again thanks Spencer for sacrificing your new skis so I could have some sweet skis for the season.

Ghost and Goblins oh MY....

Halloween this year was a lot of fun! I always start thinking about my costume in September, I know I am kind of weird, but it ends up that I can never find anything that I love. It would be easier if I felt like I could afford the $50 costumes that you can purchase online, but I can never justify buying them because I am only going to wear it once. So I always end up pulling something together that is cheap. This year I was Bat Women and thanks to my friend Paige, Spencer was Turk from our favorite TV show Scrubs. This year we had a party over at Paige's house it turned out great, lots of good food (which is most important), got to hang out with friends, and we even hooked up the Wii and played a little guitar hero. Costumes were a must for our party, and everyone showed up with some awesome costumes. I didn't get a lot of pictures, but Paige got some good ones so for more pictures of our Halloween party go here.

What would you do without great friends?

Lately I have been thinking about friends, especially my friends. There are definitely friends that come and go, but I have been fortunate enough to have two great friends that have stuck with with me for many years. I have been reminiscing on some great times that I have had with them.

I have been friends with Sarah Peterson Morse for 9 years (gosh how time flies). You can only imagine what sort of trouble we have gotten into, what fun we have shared, and what inside jokes have been told. In life there are those ups and downs that we all go threw. I have been fortunate enough to have Sarah go through a lot of my life changing events with me. Even though we are all grown up, married and don't live as close to each other as we once did, a phone call from her always makes my day and she can always make me laugh. Just the other day we got together and did dinner, with our crazy schedules we don't get to see each other much. We started talking about life and things that seemed at first so big and bad turned out to be a laughing matter at the end of the conversations. From my first break-up to marriage I am so happy to have her there to listen to me!

We took our first road trip together. Anytime we are in a new place we are bond to get lost.

This is the story of our lives! We definitely believe that the world is our stage and all we need to make it work is each other.

Go Green Phalanges :)
My other friend Candice Conner is great, we have been friends for about 6 years (it all started in high school cheer). She is one of those friends that even if we don't see each other forever when we get together we are still the best of friends. The adventures that I have had with her have been well....awesome. She has helped me through some of my hardest times, we have shed tears and many laughs together. We are kind of Vegas buddies. She told me the other day that she went down with this other girl and I couldn't believe it! ;) It has been me, her and Vegas for a few years now. Relationships do change when you get married, but I am so happy that I still have two great friends to have a girls night out with. Love you both!

She took me to the Rascal Flatts Concert. So much fun!

This is our first time in Vegas...It's where the tradition began.

The Beautiful Islands of Hawaii!

Well it seems like forever since we headed over to Hawaii, but it has only been about a month. since our adventure. We had such a blast! The first island was Oahu for a couple of days. There we hung out at the beach, went to a luau, and visited Pearl Harbor. For the next five days we headed over to Kauai. This island was so beautiful and everything I would have thought Hawaii would be. We jumped off water falls, swung off rope swings, went snorkeling a couple of times, kayaked up a river and then hiked to a huge water fall. The best part was hanging out with my husband and the family. Here are just a few pictures of our trip!

Summer Lovin'

It is has been a crazy summer and tons has happened since my last post. With summer comes all of my great loves, Lake Powell, 4th of July, and my birthday.

My whole family (except Minde, Ty and Chase which we missed very much) went to Lake Powell at the end of June. Lake Powell for me is the perfect vacation. We had a houseboat, two ski boats, and 4 wave runners down there. It was such a blast! It was Spencer's first time down and a transformation happened in him he wants a boat! He can't stop talking about buying a boat. This is a big step since on one of our first dates he told me he wanted to drain Lake Powell (he was a bit hippish back then, thank goodness I straightened him out). Spencer wakeboarded, kneeboarded and he even got up on a single ski, impressive! I did everything above except I don't wakeboard I wakeskate! My family even hiked Rainbow Bridge, we haven't done this for years so it was good to make sure that it was still standing! Here are some of our pictures from our awesome time down there! On the right you have Spencer and I at Rainbow Bridge and on the left is Spencer skiing! The bottom picture is all of us girls skiing. We have a tradition that we get all the sisters and my mom out there to get up. We have done it with 5 girls but the last couple of years it has just been 4. It only took us three pulls to get it us all up!

The 4th of July is always a good time and it is all about traditions with my family. We go to the Provo Freedom parade in the morning and then to my parents house for a bbq and a homemade slip-n-slide. My family went to the Stadium of Fire and Spencer and I headed up to the Kaysville to chill with his family and to have a bbq and watch the Kaysville fireworks, who doesn't love fireworks. I just love the 4th of July.

The next weekend was my birthday and Spencer and I celebrated by going to Zions and hiking the narrows and going to one of the Shakespeare plays in Cedar City, The Taming of the Shrew. The play was really well done and pretty funny and we always love hiking the narrows it is so beautiful down there. I was a little nervous about flash floods, but I made sure that I could get to high ground if one did happen to come :). It was such a good time to get away with just Spencer it was just what we needed!
Well in about a week we are headed to Hawaii with my family. I am so excited neither of us have been there so it should be tons of fun. After that trip I believe our summer is winding down.

Spencer's First Triathlon

On Saturday Spencer and my little brother Matt did their first sprint triathlon in Provo. Both finished and that is all that I cared about and really that is all they cared about too, since there wasn't much training that went on for this. First it started out with the swim in Utah Lake. They swam a half mile and then it was off to the transition area to get ready for the bike. The bike was two loops along Provo roads, which equaled about 12 miles. After the bike they change into their running get up and ran about 3 miles. Both of them did great and they were feeling pretty good about themselves afterwards. Now both Spencer and Matt have the triathlon bug and are looking for more they can do. Triathlons aren't cheap though, most of the ones they were looking at yesterday were about $100 each. Obviously not a cheap sport to get in to.

My dad and I were the perfect spectators and tried to take as many pictures as we could. Seeing all those people out there having a good time kind of gave me the tri bug as well, but we'll see about that!

One month down...eternity to go!

So Spencer and I had our one month anniversary yesterday. Crazy how time flies. I almost forgot it was our one month, but quickly remembered in the middle of the day and sent a text to Spencer. Spencer doesn't have the best memory (he tells me often that he does remember the important stuff), so I just assumed that he forgot. Any way I got home from work around 5:30 and on our table was one rose, for one month, and 4 beautiful gerber daisies and a sweet card. He said that he had been thinking about our month anniversary for a whole week. Needless to say I was totally impressed. We went out to chili's to celebrate and then we took back wedding gifts, which was a blast. All this store credit we are getting is going to last us a nice long time.

I can't believe that it has been a month it feels like just yesterday that we were getting everything ready for the wedding. We have had such a blast being married and I couldn't ask for a better, sweeter husband.
